Active Adult Communities are a good housing option for individuals who are interested in downsizing from their family home and having greater access to activities and age peers. Like independent living facilities, active adult communities do not have any medical services available as part of their community features. And also like independent living facilities, there is a major opportunity now for active adult communities to expand their offering and add assisted living and memory care units to their facilities.

It should be taken into consideration that the average resident age in older active adult communities is between 75–80 years. This older population is now needing more significant levels of care but do not want to leave the communities that have become their homes.
